Our fishing consists of the old main river, which is narrower than many Test carriers. The Test Way footpath runs atop the opposite bank and hence this is kept “rough” to deter the general public. Whilst stocked, this stretch has not been fished heavily. Pifflers have taken on the lease so this is our fishery. Salmon have been noted in the river this winter.
Species Available: Brown Trout, Grayling, Rainbow Trout
Body of Water: River Test, Nr Stockbridge
Season: 10th April to 30th September (plus grayling to 15th March)
Usage: Exclusive use of the fishery, max 2 rods any one day. Rested every other day.
Take the A3057 Romsey Road, through Kings Somborne and turn right onto Horsebridge Road after exiting the village. Pass in front of the John of Gaunt Inn and cross the first bridge over the river and Test Way.
The entrance is the first on the right. If you cross further bridges you have overshot the entrance.
Open the farm gate using the code and follow the track to the fishing hut, hidden behind a hedge.
The majority of the fishing is best accessed from the bank but below the hut there is a short section which may be accessed by wading.
The upstream boundary is approx. 300 yards above the car park area / Hut before a farm bridge across the river, our boundary is before the bridge. DO NOT walk up to the bridge. There are various features on the way including a couple of man-made chicanes and pools, all obvious fish holding areas. The far bank is quite deep in places and the overhanging bushes attract the larger fish.
