- Avon Northend - Probably the cheapest salmon fishing to be found. Early season the fishing can be along traditional lines due to absence of weed whilst later on the tactics include the induced take using nymphs. Several good salmon landed up to 20lbs over the years as well as trout. For 2025 we have less days being on Saturdays and Mondays. Last years heavy flows helped the salmon but not the anglers!
- Avon, Bickton Mill, Nr Fordingbridge - Usually our first venue to sell out. Wild fishery it aint! Basically, a moving water put and take fishery. Manicured and beautifully managed.
- Avon, Old Sarum - the polar opposite to Bickton Mill. A wild and minimally manicured wading fishery upstream of Salisbury and abutting the famous SADAC waters. Popular last year hence our doubling the days
- Avon Woodford Valley (Salterton) - The fishery is looking very good with stocked and wild fish flourishing as well as chub, dace, roach and grayling who will all rise to the fly. The keeper, Lee has continued working on the river which has gone through somewhat of a renaissance with improved catches in 2024.
- River Dun, Hungerford - This little gem is part of the world-famous Hungerford Town and Manor fishery, gifted to the townsfolk by John of Gaunt. The Hungerford Marsh beat extends for approximately 950 metres of the River Dun (which is a major tributary of the River Kennet). Despite being only a short walk from the town this is a very private and intimate section of river with its own fishing hut. It is crystal clear, creepy crawly fishing where stealth will be the key. There is ongoing major improvement works to the river as well as stocking planned for 2025
- Main River Kennet, Hungerford (NEW)- at the invitation of the Keeper Rob Starr, Pifflers are being allowed to sample a day per week to showcase this fantastic fishery. We are the first Club to be allowed to do this. Anglers will be met by Rob at the venue and given tips as to ho w and where.
- Itchen, Benham Park. (NEW After a gap of 10 years) The Park is a delightful mix of fishing with the larger main river, criss-crossed by a variety of carriers and side streams which all add up to something in the region of five miles of water. The fishing is mostly from the bank, though on occasion you may be able to wade some of the small stream sections. There is an excellent head of wild fish supplemented with regular stocking.
The full-time river keeper Gary Allen will usually be on hand to greet you and there is a fishing cabin beside the river with parking immediately adjacent. We are very lucky to be welcomed to this private syndicate water whose etiquette and rules must be studied prior to visit by you and guest.
- Itchen, Easton, Main River - exactly what you'd expect if you shut your eyes and imagined a gin clear chalkstream. Expertly managed by Pat Moyle it has a great head of wild fish especially upstream of Carrier (below) and is judiciously stocked by the owner. Both banks and we have two or three rods on Thursdays and Fridays
- Itchen, Easton Carrier - An exceptionally rare stretch of gin-clear chalk stream perfect for 'sight fishing', catch & release. 1 rod with a guest rod; it is best to use a rod of around 8ft in the 3-weight range with dry fly or nymph, the latter allowed all season provided they are traditional chalk-stream patterns. This stream is stocked and has a healthy head of wild fish too.
- Itchen, Lower Itchen - We have two rods on 4 trout beats each being different giving a good variety with white water pools, faster riffled stretches and deep pools, providing excellent sport. Regular and high level of stocking is carried out using only the highest quality brown trout ranging up to 5lbs.It is a secluded fishery (keep following the track) and we want to encourage more of you to visit what we see as the most delightful fishery.
- Lower Bishopstoke, Itchen (NEW) - Owned in part by a longstanding Piffler we have been invited to take 2 rods every Monday, including dusk to midnight for Sea Trout of which there was a strong run last year. The Fishery was previously a salmon fishery and is now being run as a wild/stocked trout fishery with careful re- styling ongoing.
- Kennet, Avington/Denford Fishery - One of our most prolific fisheries we have both Denford comprising mainly carrier fishing as well as access to the famous Avington syndicate water which is both main river and productive carriers. You can literally lose yourself on the myriad of Denford streams on the walk down to Avington. We are very privileged to have access to this water not being syndicate members and we would implore fishers to keep a low profile, preferably not using the fishing hut.
- Test, Broadlands - Part of the famous Mountbatten property at Romsey. Around four miles of the Test running through the Broadlands Estate just south of Romsey. Renowned for the native brown trout, salmon, sea trout and grayling, the private beats on the Estate are much sought after. We have 5 beats from just south of the house down to the M27 above Nursling all stocked with brownies. Start early and stay late to give yourself the best chance - rest during the middle of the day!
- Test, Broadlands Carrier - running parallel to the main river for the length of the estate a great small water venue to mooch around all day and explore. We have 2 rods any one day of the week.
- Test, Nursling - Immediately below Broadlands, its big and can be daunting but comes into its own later in the season when other venues may be struggling for flow. It is also a beat which tends to hold salmon but has a very interesting weirpool and more traditional stream below it with great variety and interest.
- Test, Houghton Lodge - This fishery continues a great success. The Lower beat has been responsible for the biggest fish of the season from Society waters in every year. Seth, the River Keeper, is usually about to give a hand in his relaxed, no-nonsense manner and certainly helped several members to score.
Those on the WhatsApp group will have enjoyed Seth's many videos on and about the river in recent years not least on the substantial bank and riverbed works conducted two years ago with the introduction of many hundreds of tons of gravel which have now naturalised and proving to hold more fish. The Upper beat is more challenging and offers some of the best priced prime Test fishing available. For 2025 we are pleased to say that we have more fishing on the Upper Beat; both beats were booked 100% last season so book early!
- Test, Leckford - Owned by the Waitrose Partnership, this famed estate has 16 beats over 11 miles with a huge variety of fishing. This is high quality fishing, stocked with quality fish and we have doubled our days for 2025 on which you can fish two rods sharing a beat or one rod shared which is a great way to introduce someone to the joys of fly fishing!
- Test, Mottisfont - This much-loved prime beat continues to be a regular producer of big fish.
- Test, Park Stream Bossington - The Park Stream is the mill stream to the historic Horsebridge Mill. This popular beat flows from the famous Houghton Club water on the river Test and was purchased from the Club by Bossington Estate. Double bank of over 300 yards with both trout and a good head of grayling. Fishing for 1 or 2 friends fishing together, this fishery is managed by the Pifflers with generous stocking again in 2025. Last season it was our most prolific venue.
- Test, Polehampton - this is the uppermost beat fished on the Test. Small wild trout in crystal clear water. If you can catch here you can catch anywhere.
- Test, Testwood - This is a unique salmon and seatrout fishery, fished from either by day for salmon or separately by night through to 3am. This is the most productive seatrout pool in England. It is difficult fishing in the pitch dark but produces big seatrout consistently - the fishery is reliant on catch and release which will not unduly concern members who for the main part practise this already. There is accommodation and breakfast available by prior request.
- Peacock, Rowsley, Derbys. Derwent and Wye - We have season rods here aimed at encouraging the visiting angler use the local facilities. A stunning and massive wild fishery venue with wild Rainbows and great all year grayling fishing offered at bargain prices.
Salmon - Our timeshare beats on the Spey at Craigellachie are almost sold out (nothing to do with the 20lb springer last year I'm sure!). As is usual for salmon beats, first refusal is given to returning rods and members were asked to register their interest with me via the Whatsapp group for 2025 access to put a party together. There is still good availability on the Nith, where last year our timeshare partner saw 'more salmon in one place as I've ever seen'. Its beautiful fly water and cheap as chips. Try it!
Mullet Bass and Sea Trout, Christchurch Harbour, a terrific summer venue to mooch about with a fly rod. You could catch almost anything but you will have heart stopping experiences with bow waving mullet and almost certainly catch schoolie bass. Mind your fingers as they are prickly.
Tring Reservoir - our only still water offering as its such great value for money and prolific.Boats are available by prior arrangement at no extra cost in the peak period but you may also fish when they have been packed away from the bank up to end of Feb.
Grayling - The grayling fishing was a big success in recent years and we will organise again for 2025.
